Instead of focusing on what was going on outside of me (which was a lot!), I took a different approach: I focused on what was going on inside of me. In other words, I took the time to focus on MYSELF.
I analyzed and identified my greatest talents and strengths, I dove deeply into building my emotional intelligence, I created a vision for what I truly wanted for my life and career, and I worked to overcome the limiting beliefs that were holding me back from fully stepping into my vision.
This inner work and personal development didn’t just improve the joy and satisfaction I felt in my life, it led me to a powerful realization that could have a transformational impact on ANY professional:
The key to feeling satisfied, invigorated, and on purpose in your career lies in focusing on yourself first.
I call it The New Golden Rule.
Surely, you’ve heard of the Golden Rule: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” While this seems like a good mantra to live by, in reality, having your focus on others may be exactly what’s holding you back! The New Golden Rule is about closing the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, simply by putting yourself first.
